Kingdom Come: Deliverance on PS5 Pro – A Medieval in 4K

Stepping back into the world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance on the PS5 Pro feels like rediscovering a lost piece of history with a fresh perspective. When I first watched the game on youtube its original release, I was captivated by its dedication to historical accuracy, immersive storytelling, and challenging combat system. Now, with next-gen enhancements, the experience feels more refined, smoother, and even more immersive, making it the best way to experience medieval Bohemia.

The most immediate improvement on the PS5 Pro is the resolution and graphical fidelity. The game now runs at native 4K, allowing the stunning landscapes, dense forests, and detailed medieval villages to appear sharper than ever. Textures are clearer, making armor, weapons, and environmental details look more authentic. Lighting has been improved as well, with enhanced reflections and better shadow rendering, adding a greater sense of realism to every sunrise over the countryside or the flickering of torches in dark castle corridors.

Performance-wise, the jump to 60 FPS has completely changed how the game feels. On previous console versions, there were moments where the frame rate dipped, particularly during large battles or while riding through dense areas. Now, combat feels much smoother, making timing-based sword fights more precise and responsive. Archery, which was already a test of skill in the original version, now benefits from the increased frame rate, allowing for more accurate and satisfying shots. Even navigating the open world feels better, with horseback riding and exploration offering a seamless experience without stuttering.

Load times, which were one of the biggest drawbacks of the original console release, have been drastically reduced thanks to the PS5 Pro’s SSD. Fast travel, entering cities, and loading saved games now happen almost instantly, keeping the immersion intact. This alone makes a huge difference in how the game is played, as waiting for extended load screens used to disrupt the flow of exploration.

Another surprising enhancement comes from the DualSense controller. While not as extensively used as in some PS5-native titles, the adaptive triggers provide subtle resistance when drawing a bowstring, making archery feel more immersive. The haptic feedback also adds to the experience, giving a greater sense of impact when engaging in melee combat or riding over uneven terrain.

Despite these improvements, the game still carries some of its original quirks. The combat system, while more fluid, remains unforgiving and requires patience to master. The lack of a traditional fantasy setting might not appeal to everyone, as this is a grounded medieval experience with no magic or mythical creatures. However, for those who love historical RPGs, this is precisely what makes the game so special.

For those who missed out on Kingdom Come: Deliverance the first time, the PS5 Pro version is the perfect opportunity to experience one of the most immersive historical RPGs ever made. And for returning players, the performance upgrades make it worth revisiting, offering a smoother and more visually stunning way to explore medieval Bohemia. If you’re a fan of realistic RPGs with deep role-playing mechanics, challenging combat, and a rich historical setting, this is a must-play on next-gen hardware.
